โน๏ธ How does Customs treat used vehicles? (click to expand)
For vehicles older than 6 months, Sri Lanka Customs depreciates the manufacturer's FOB when computing their internal benchmark CIF (~10% per year). This affects the customs valuation comparison โ not your declared CIF.

|---|---|
| 0โ6 months | 0% |
| 7โ12 months | 10% |

โน๏ธ About Customs Valuation
Sri Lanka Customs maintains an internal valuation database. If your declared CIF is below their benchmark for this make/model/year/grade, Customs will assess duty against their benchmark. Verify with your CHA's recent clearances or request an Advance Ruling.
When are you importing?
The import date determines which tax profile applies (eg SSCL kicks in Apr 2026).
โน๏ธ SSCL applies
The Social Security Contribution Levy of 2.5% applies to imports on or after April 2026 (Budget 2026).
Step 5 โ Review & calculate
Confirm everything looks right, then we'll compute the duty stack against the latest gazette.
How does this work?
We compute the full import duty stack โ CIF โ Surcharge โ PAL โ Excise โ Luxury Tax โ VAT โ SSCL โ plus VEL and clearing fees. Rates are sourced from the latest Sri Lanka Customs gazettes and refreshed weekly.
This is an estimate
Final duty depends on your CHA's classification, current customs valuation, and any individual case adjustments. Always verify with your clearing agent before signing an LC.
