Getting There

Start from Kandy: travel about 35 km via the Kandy-Mahiyangana main road, turn left at Hunnasgiriya Junction, proceed 15 km to Loolwatte, then tackle the final rough 14-15 km stretch. Choose a sturdy 4x4 vehicle for the undeveloped road—conditions are unsatisfactory beyond Loolwatte. It's about 36 km from Udadumbara town or 29 km off the Knuckles Forest Reserve road past Hunnasgiriya.
